Our heroes stepped through the shadow-crossing portal and into the Shadowfell, a dark plane of suffering and despair. Before them was a path winding into the darkness, peppered with large clay pots. As they approach a figure emerged from one of the pots. It was Matreous, yet again! The wizard had been cloned many times, his vessels lying dormant in these pots. In their battles our party learned that Matreous had led his team of wizards here in search of treasure and had betrayed them one by one before falling to the last and strongest in their group, the lady Fistandia. She had struck him down and used her magic to clone him to serve as her minion as punishment.
Their final confrontation with the wizard took place before a great palace of solid gold. What waits for them inside? Treasure beyond their wildest dreams... or yet more tragedy?
