This presentation by shipwreck diver Dan Lieb covers nearly 300 years of shipwreck activity in New Jersey waters including both World Wars. Dan will discuss the identification of several shipwreck sites that were misnamed or nicknamed obscuring their past and causes of wrecking. Learn how the tools of underwater archeology were used to identify some of these sites.
Dan Lieb has led and participated in dozens of archaeological expeditions in New Jersey and the surrounding region for more than 30 years mapping shipwrecks. His enthusiasm for local maritime history allows him to identify shipwrecks in NJ waters. He holds a Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Divemaster rating and has logged over 2,300 dives since 1974.
All adults are welcome to attend. Advance registration is required.
